Cattle auction gets Manorlands appeal mooving!
8:00am Monday 26th August 2013 in Keighley
Manorlands could be forgiven for milking its latest donation.
The Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice has received £2,000, raised through a cattle auction.
The cash will be used mainly to extend a counselling and support programme offered at Manorlands for children who have lost a loved one.
Cattle were donated for sale by the Leo Group, a long-time hospice supporter. The company is at the forefront of the UK’s recycling and renewable energy sectors, but also has strong links with agriculture.
Manorlands has been part of the group’s £125,000 programme of charitable donations in the past year, and the company sponsors the fund-raising Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby racecourse.
Leo Group managing director, Danny Sawrij, said: “We all know someone whose life has been touched by the amazing work of the Sue Ryder Manorlands hospice.
“By donating the proceeds from the auction of our cattle, we hope it will add an extra dimension to its work at the heart of the community.”
Hayley Ibbotson, a Sue Ryder regional fundraiser at Manorlands, said: “We’d like to thank everyone at the Leo Group for this fantastic sum.
“The donation will be used at the hospice, particularly helping to fund the children’s bereavement workshops Leo Group has been kind enough to support us with in the past.
“It’s a valuable part of our service and we’re very grateful to have the group’s support.”
