First-placed Joe White and runner-up David Smith each received a giant canvas of their entries on Saturday from the Max Spielmann outlet in Keighley’s Airedale Shopping Centre. A second runner-up, Darren Smith, was unable to attend.
The contest, held in conjunction with the shopping centre and Max Spielmann’s, attracted more than 80 entries.
Judges managed to eventually whittle down the submissions to ten, and readers were then invited to vote for their favourite. Joe’s successful shot was of a rustic footpath sign pointing to Bronte country on moorland close to his home.
As part of his amazing prize package, the 26-year-old from Stanbury has also been presented with a state-of-the-art Nikon D3100 15-55 VR digital camera, worth £350, a camera bag and two 16GB memory cards. And he has been given free temporary use of a purpose-built studio in the Airedale Centre, which has already sparked considerable interest in his work.
