Blues and rock performer Allan Parkinson plays Keighley Central Hall show
6:20am Tuesday 24th September 2013 in Keighley
A leading blues and rock performer will headline the biggest live music event yet at Keighley’s Central Hall.
The performance by Allan Parkinson will be the first to be organised by the group that runs the Alice Street building.
Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary and Community Action (KIVCA) hopes the October 5 concert will be the first of many.
Allan, an original member of 70s Lancashire group Slack Alice, is renowned for emotive and fiery guitar playing.
KIVCA chief officer Caroline Schwaller said concert proceeds would pay for improvements to the hall’s acoustics and amplification system.
She added: “A lot of singing and dancing already goes on in the hall, and local music clubs have expressed an interest in using us.
“People say the hall would be very good for acoustic concerts and small ensembles, like jazz groups.”
Tickets for the Allan Parkinson show are available from the hall or by calling 01535 612500.
