A Keighley primary school hosted an introduction to tennis session that might possibly have inspired a future British Wimbledon champion.

Adam Cox, of Skipton Tennis Centre, visited pupils at Ingrow Primary School only a few days after Andy Murray’s landmark victory in the men’s Wimbledon single final.

Deputy headteacher Annette Campbell said: “We thought it would be good to invite a proper tennis coach, who is affiliated to the British Lawn Tennis Association.

“Adam came to give the kids a nice taster session, to help keep them fit and healthy and to hopefully even inspire some possible champions for the future.

“He worked outside with 54 year three and four pupils. The children really enjoyed it. Some of them have been asking about joining a tennis club, and Adam gave out some information fliers.

“We hope to have him back at the school – it’s something we can build on.”
