A meeting is being held to generate “joined-up thinking” by everyone involved in next summer’s visit to Keighley by the Tour de France.
Residents and businesses are being invited to the gathering on September 28 to learn what a range of organisations will be doing during the race.
Senior Bradford Council representatives will be at the meeting in Victoria Hall to outline what is already known about the arrangements for the day.
Residents and business people will be able to air their views about the Tour de France, put forward ideas and ask questions.
There are likely to be information stands from organisations involved in roads, regeneration, town centre management, public safety, event management, culture and cycling.
The Tour de France’s Grand Depart is expected to attract thousands of people next July as competitors ride through Silsden, Steeton, Keighley, Haworth, Oxenhope and Stanbury.
Groups have already been formed in Keighley and Haworth to plan race-day events and help local businesses and organisations make the most of the Tour.
The meeting on September 28 has been called by Mike Powell, emergency planning officer with Bradford Council, to help co-ordinate all the activities.
He said: “It has been recognised that there is a requirement to communicate with both business and residents about the Tour. We want to seek their views on the event, what they would like to see and do, and of course advise them what we know and what we are doing.”
Three identical two-hour sessions will be held during the day, at 10am, 12.30pm and 3pm.
Each session will include an introduction by tourism organisation Welcome to Yorkshire, a look at business opportunities, a presentation by Bradford Council and a question-and-answer session.
