Man in 90s hurt in Steeton collision
3:37pm Thursday 26th September 2013 in Keighley
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 90s suffered “potentially life-threatening” injuries following a collision in Steeton.
The accident, shortly before 10.50am last Wednesday, left the pedestrian with serious leg injuries and a head wound, and led to the main road through the village being closed for more than two hours.
The man was involved in a collision with a Ford Mondeo car at the junction of Chapel Road and Skipton Road. A rapid response vehicle and two ambulances were sent to the scene, and he was taken to nearby Airedale Hospital for treatment.
Skipton Road was closed both ways between the hospital and the traffic lights at Steeton Top until about 1.30pm for police to investigate the incident, leading to long delays between Keighley and Cross Hills. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Western Area Roads Policing Unit on 101.
