Company clubs together for Keighley golf day
2:10pm Saturday 5th October 2013 in Keighley
A group that takes young people on pilgrimages to Lourdes has received a cash boost thanks to a Keighley business’s successful charity golf day.
ABV Wholesale, in Pitt Street, raised £2,225 through the day at Branshaw Golf Club. The money has been presented to Group 58, which is the local branch of the Handicapped Children’s Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT).
Group members, Pam and David Jessop, accepted a cheque from ABV at the golf club last Thursday.
Sarah Buckley, whose husband, Stephen, is the director of the firm, said he and his business partner, David Ambler, arranged the golf day.
She added her brother, Mark Butler, who died four years ago, had been taken to Lourdes by HCPT volunteers for many years.
“The golf day was back in July and a lot of our customers came along and played,” she said.
“We also had an auction later on and a raffle. It was an excellent event with lovely weather, and the golf club was really good to us. They offered us free use of their course for the day.
“It was the first event like this we’ve done and we’d like to hold it again, though for a different charity.”
