Keighley Air Cadets staging first ever open day
11:00am Saturday 12th October 2013 in Keighley
Keighley Air Cadets are to stage their first ever open evening this month.
The event at the Drill Hall in Lawk-holme Lane will be held by 2431 (Keighley) Squadron ATC from 7pm to 9pm on October 21.
A unit spokesman said: “The evening is designed for young people aged 12 to 18 to come down and see what we get up to.
“Parents and family members are also welcome. Our cadets will carry on as usual, so visitors will be able to get a look at what we do during parade evenings.
“The open evening will feature a brief chat from the commanding officer on what the air cadet organisation involves, a chat from our pilot officer on the flying and gliding opportunities within Air Cadets, and a presentation from our Lord Lieutenant’s cadet on the many other activities available.
“Anybody interested in a career with the Royal Air Force should definitely pay us a visit.”

- Keighley Air Cadets raised more than £750 for a fund to help needy serving and former RAF personnel. The cadets spent a day in town collecting cash for the Royal Air Force Association Wings Appeal. A total of 21 cadets gave up between one and six hours of their time to raise money outside supermarkets, the market hall, Airedale Shopping Centre plus the railway and bus stations.
