Have your say with debate on Haworth parking
9:00am Tuesday 15th October 2013 in Keighley
People wanting to give their opinions on how parking in Haworth’s Main Street should be regulated can do so during a meeting in the village this month.
The topic is the only issue on the agenda at the Haworth Neighbourhood Forum, which meets from 7pm to 8.30pm on October 23 in West Lane Baptist Church.
The historic street has been without double yellow lines since its setts were repaired and relayed.
Councillors have previously warned this has led to some motorists obstructing the road with parked vehicles. One member said he knew of two funeral corteges that had been disrupted due to inconsiderate parking.
A Keighley Area Co-ordinator’s office spokesman emphasised the neighbourhood forum would not feature any particular solution being put forward by the council’s highways department.
She said the meeting will instead give people a chance to air their own ideas before the experts begin putting forward specific proposals.
“It’s to see what could work and what might not work,” she added. “We have to bear in mind all three groups that use the street – residents, traders and visitors.”
