Silsden street lights repaired following complaints
1:40pm Friday 18th October 2013 in Keighley
A cluster of street lamps in Silsden have been repaired following complaints from the public.
Contractors finished work on the lights in secluded Belton Road last Thursday.
A Bradford Council spokesman this week said electricity workers had been undertaking replacement work on the lamps.
Belton Road connects Keighley Road – one of the main routes into Silsden – with industrial units and a small housing estate next to the Leeds-Liverpool Canal.
Nigel Demaline, a local resident, said he and several other people had contacted the council during a two-week period.
He said the darkness had made Belton Road very dangerous after nightfall.
Mr Demaline added: “This is a major walking route to the railway station from Silsden.
“It was only a matter of time before someone was attacked or knocked down crossing the road.”
