Investigations to improve ‘scruffy-looking’ Haworth car park
9:50am Friday 25th October 2013 in Keighley
Parish councillors in Haworth are investigating what can be done to improve the surroundings of the village’s Gas Street car park.
The topic was discussed during a recent meeting of the environment working group, which is part of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council.
Group chairman Councillor Angel Kershaw said: “There are bits of land around the car park that are very overgrown and scruffy looking.
“We want to improve those areas, and the car park itself does need resurfacing.
“If you go there on a normal day the car park is often half empty, but there are other times when it is very heavily used, such as when there are steam galas on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. It’s also likely to be very much in use when the Tour de France arrives.”
Councillor Kershaw added she and her colleagues will be carrying out a site visit to assess what needs to be done to enhance the location’s appearance.
