Riddlesden cricketers’ tribute to former captain
8:10am Saturday 26th October 2013 in Keighley
Cricket players have raised £300 for the British Heart Foundation in memory of their late team captain.
Members of Riddlesden Cricket Club organised a Twenty20 cricket tournament as a tribute to Nassir Kamal.
Married father-of-four Nassir, of Skipton Road, died in December from acute heart failure at the age of 39.
At the tournament, Riddlesden players competed against RZM – made up of Nassir’s friends – and a team from Ingrow St John’s Cricket Club.
Riddlesden team member, David Robinson, said the match was held immediately after the end of this year’s cricket season.
Nassir was born in Azad Kashmir and moved to the UK when he was ten months old.
A former Greenhead School pupil, he had worked for Keighley Metro Taxis.
As well as playing for Riddlesden, he represented Keighley Cricket Academy and Keighley Young Muslims.
