Keighley disabled athletes benefit from £10K donation
4:20pm Saturday 26th October 2013 in Keighley
Disabled athletes in Keighley will benefit from a £10,000 donation by a Bradford healthcare organisation.
Sovereign Health Care has presented the money to Bradford Disability Sports & Leisure (BDSL). The money will go towards the running costs of various sports clubs across Keighley and Bradford.
Sovereign has provided financial support to BDSL for a number of years through its charitable trust.
The latest grant came as BDSL celebrated its athletes winning 32 medals at the National Special Olympics.
Sovereign chief executive, Russ Piper, said he was delighted to present the money to BDSL’s athletes, who have learning disabilities.
He added: “We’re very lucky that we live in a world where people with special needs have a chance of inclusion.”
BDSL is one of 14 charities ready to share in a £140,000 payout by Sovereign to celebrate its 140th birthday.
And BDSL is also the beneficiary of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal this year after being chosen by the current Lord Mayor of Bradford, Keighley councillor Khadim Hussain.
