Linda and friends' pedal power raises Manorlands cash
9:50am Saturday 26th October 2013 in Keighley
Cycling along the Canal du Midi in France was not as smooth pedalling as Linda Akrigg had hoped.
The section from the famous walled city of Carcassonne to Sète on the Mediterranean was very hard going.
“My husband, Dave, said it was as bad as riding rough mountain bike tracks,” said Linda, who was accompanied by him and friends Dave and Margaret Harbourne.
She completed 500 miles on the journey last month, and has raised at least £1,600 for the Manorlands Sue Ryder hospice at Oxenhope.
The 60-year-old (above) – an avid cyclist from Farnhill – said she was extremely grateful to the people who had supported her.
The Canal du Midi runs from Bordeaux on the Atlantic Ocean to Sète on the Mediterranean Sea.
