A Cononley dad was among a record 1,200-plus people who took part in Skipton’s fourth annual charity Santa Run on Sunday.

Joseph Guest, 28, of Crosshills Road, completed the 5km race to raise money for STEPS, which has helped his infant daughter – Violet Long-Guest – who has Talipes, also known as clubfoot.

“It was a pretty busy event,” said Joseph, who ran with Violet’s grandad, Peadar Long. “We did it in 30 minutes, but we could have been quicker had there not been so many Santas in the way! It was all done in a good spirit.”

Joseph raised £1,035 for STEPS, and he says there is still more money coming in.

Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands was among several causes to benefit from the event, organised by the Rotary Club of Skipton Craven.

Rotary club president, Bob Marchant, said: “We are indebted to all the sponsors and helpers, who had made the running of the event possible, and to all those taking part from Craven and beyond.

“Without them, there would be no money raised for the charities – they were the stars of the day.”
