A Haworth business will host a Christmas party this Saturday - a year after its premises were severely damaged in a blaze.

People are welcome to attend the event at Damside Mill, off Lees Lane, from 3pm.

Much of the converted mill’s interior was engulfed in flames last December, in an inferno which was triggered by a storage heater.

The building is used by bespoke furniture designer Anthony Hartley, of Oxenhope. The property also hosts a range of courses in upholstery and interior design.

Following an extensive programme of repairs, the building was reopened in September.

Mr Hartley had been offered a temporary home at a workshop in Silsden while the damage was being fixed.

He said this week: “All our upholstery courses are running again, and we’ve got some other courses ready for next year which we’re looking forward to. It’s all about trying to make this into a creative hub for Haworth.”

He said the party would include refreshments and music, and was partly intended as a gesture of thanks to everyone who has supported Damside Mill’s recovery.
