Keighley district householders are being urged not to forget to recycle waste over the festive period.

Recycling centres – including those at Royd Ings Avenue, Keighley, and Sugden End, Cross Roads – will be open as usual, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

People unable to get all their refuse in bins can leave it in bags for collection.

Real Christmas trees can be taken to the recycling centres or to garden centres including Stephen H Smith at Wilsden or Woodbank, Harden.

Coun Andrew Thornton said: “We wish everyone a great time this Christmas but want to remind them to keep recycling.

“The amount of waste generated can jump by as much as one third during the festive period so it’s really important to recycle as much as possible.”

Labels containing details of any changes to normal collection days are being attached to bins.
