People have been urged to make use of a bus service operating in and around Keighley on Boxing Day.

Bronte Country Tourism Partnership member, Graham Mitchell, said the service was secured following requests from Keighley Town Council and the Airedale Shopping Centre.

“This is being done as a trial, and if these buses are little used or not used, it may not happen again,” he warned.

Transport authority Metro has funded five routes, to be operated on contract by Transdev Keighley & District.

The routes from Keighley Bus Station are 66A Airedale Hospital, 703 Braithwaite, 717 Oakworth, 719 Bracken Bank and 760 Keighley-Bingley-Shipley-Leeds.

Single journeys cost £2, day tickets £3.50 and concessionary passes will be valid.

The Boxing Day buses will be in addition to the separate Christmas Day bus service in Keighley, which is in its 19th year and is operated by volunteers from Keighley Bus Museum Trust.
