Walkers step into Christmas routes!

The organisation responsible for promoting the South Pennines is encouraging district residents to step out using its walks.

Pennine Prospects has devised a number of routes across the region, including several on the moors above Haworth, Oxenhope, Silsden and Riddlesden.

The walkridesouthpennines.co.uk website also features cycling and horse riding routes in the same wild landscapes.

In addition, Pennine Prospects is publicising special events during the Christmas and New Year period, including several just across the borders from the Keighley area.

One of these is a short guided walk for families, entitled Fun Hat and Wig Walk, setting off from Bingley Arts Centre at 12.30pm on New Year’s Day.

The website offers almost 30 routes in the Airedale and Bingley areas, including Cullingworth, Denholme, Ilkley Moor, East Morton, Silsden, St Ives and Kildwick. There are 17 routes across Haworth, Bronte Country and the Forest of Trawden, including walks taking in Oakworth, Haworth, Stanbury, Oxenhope and Keighley Moor.

Each walk includes details of distance, difficulty, toilets and public transport routes, as well as a downloadable map.
