Keighley dog-lovers make canine calendar a big hit

Dog lovers in Keighley are hounding a cafe owner for copies of a charity calendar.

Beverley Bottomley’s 2014 calendar features photographs of 24 dogs owned by customers of the Cavendish Court Cafe.

The canine calendar will raise funds for the Bull Mastiff Rescue charity, which finds new homes for abandoned dogs across the UK.

Beverley herself owns eight bull mastiffs and regularly raises money for dog charities.

She sold several of the calendars at a Christmas fair in the Cavendish Court shopping centre earlier this month, also in aid of Bull Mastiff Rescue.

Beverley said she had to put two pictures on each page of the calendar because so many customers responded to her appeal for photographs.

She added: “I have so many customers coming in with their pets because it’s a dog-friendly cafe.

“We got sponsorship for the cost of the calendar, so every penny goes to the charity.”

Beverley’s biggest sponsor was the Flower Shop in North Street.

Copies of the calendar are available for £5 each from the cafe. Beverley expects to raise around £800 from the initiative
