Children can enjoy music sessions at Keighley library.

A rhyme challenge is being staged across the district, starting in the New Year.

Youngsters will learn five rhymes as part of the initiative, being held in the wake of this year’s hugely successful Bookstart Rhyme Challenge.

The scheme will run until March and include sessions at libraries district-wide. The Keighley challenge starts at 11am on February 22.

Coun Ralph Berry, Bradford Council’s executive member for children’s services, said: “It has been proven great rhymers become great readers. So while this is a fun activity, it is also laying the foundation stones for when they learn how to read in reception classes.”
