Progress report call on health services

Keighley Area Committee has requested regular reports about how changes to local health services are progressing.

The Bradford Council committee discussed the introduction earlier this year of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

CCGs are made up of GPs, and are responsible for planning and buying emergency care, hospital care, and mental health, maternity and community health services.

Dr Phil Pugh, chief clinical officer of the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven CCG, briefed the area committee on how the new system had operated during its first eight months.

In his report, he outlined how the budget was spent, and which health and social care services were provided by other organisations, such as NHS England and Bradford Council.

The area committee requested further reports every three months.
