Members of a Cross Hills-based weight loss group have shed the pounds to raise the pounds – more than £900 in all for a trio of good causes.

People attending sessions run by Slimming World consultant, Pauline Howard, have collected £409 to support research into pancreatic cancer and £400 for Macmillan cancer nurses. They have raised a further £100 for the Airedale special-care baby unit.

Pauline, who runs the Monday evening slimming classes at St Peter’s Church Hall, said the cash was generated during 2013 via a coffee morning, party and raffles.

She said: “I’m pleased and impressed with how much we’ve been able to raise, and it’s something we’d like to do again this year. It was a group effort, and everyone has got involved.”
