Soldiers and airmen mingled with other guests during a film premiere at Keighley Picture House.

The servicemen were in reality Keighley residents involved in the remake of classic comedy thriller The Ghost Train.

Cast, crew and extras gathered at the North Street cinema for the red-carpet event.

The evening marked a return to Keighley for film company Canny Media, which spent several weeks filming on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway during the autumn of 2011.

Sarah Deery, the film’s writer, described the premiere as “brilliant”, with 87 members of the public joining the 57 cast and crew.

She paid tribute to Keighley people who answered a call for extras, particularly those who provided their own wartime costumes.

Sarah added: “It was for the 1940s elements of the film. They also helped out by providing props.”

The original Ghost Train movie was filmed during the Second World War and starred comedian Arthur Askey as one of several passengers stranded at a country station. The new version, set mostly in the present day, features actors who have performed on TV and in theatre.
