Manorlands will benefit by almost £2,000 following hugely successful runs.

Organisers of the Bradford City Runs, held last October, have announced the event raised just under £4,000.

Half the money is going to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice and the remainder to Epilepsy Action.

Participants could tackle a 5k, 10k or half-marathon route, each starting near City Park. More than 400 runners took up the challenge.

The runs, held in blustery conditions, were staged by Bradford Council.

“We were delighted to be involved in the event and with the amount raised – it’s tremendous,” said a Manorlands spokesman.

This year’s Bradford City Runs are scheduled for October 26.

Meanwhile, entries are already being received for the seventh annual Keighley BigK 10k in aid of Manorlands.

The run and walk has become a major fundraising fixture on the hospice’s calendar, with the last event coining in £49,000.

Mother’s Day – which this year falls on March 30 – has again been chosen as the date.

Advance entry costs £12 for adults and £6 for juniors, and there will be a corporate team rate. Visit bigk10k.org.uk for more details.
