Former Craven League player Brindle is England star
Former Craven League cricketer Arran Brindle helped England to defeat Australia by 61 runs in the women’s Ashes Test at Perth.
Brindle, who was born in Steeton and played her early cricket with Thornton, top-scored with 68 in England’s first innings and followed up with 35 in the second after her side had lost early wickets.
Brindle, who now plays her cricket in the Lincolnshire Senior League with Louth, used all of her experience to help England triumph.
Her 126-ball knock in the first innings, which contained 12 fours, helped England to make 201.
After Australia had been bowled out for 207, Brindle helped her side to 190 after a poor start. Australia were dismissed for 123 to seal the win.
