Police were this week continuing investigations into two fires at the former snooker hall in Lawkholme.

A spokesman for Bradford CID confirmed that both of this month’s night-time blazes were being treated as arson.

Residents of houses neighbouring the building had to be evacuated during both fires, which were in the early hours of New Year’s Eve and January 6.

The first inferno gutted a large part of the building along Grange Street while the second destroyed the section fronting Lawkholme Lane.

The building – for many years home to the Peter Black Car Museum – was this week fenced off and awaiting demolition.

Residents have been praised for providing refreshments and taking in neighbours, particularly children and the elderly, until they were able to return to their own homes.
