Students from Glusburn and Sutton who are at university or college could receive cash aid.
Grants towards studies are being offered by the Sir John Horsfall Exhibition Foundation.
To be eligible, applicants must live in the parishes of Glusburn or Sutton, or have attended county council and/or voluntary schools there prior to the age of 16.
References will be required from a current or past tutor.
Grants of £100 were awarded last year.
North Yorkshire county councillor, Arthur Barker, executive member for schools, said: “Most students have to manage on very tight budgets, so these grants are a welcome opportunity for help with learning.”
