Keighley MP's pride at services’ priority on homes

Keighley News: Kris Hopkins MP Kris Hopkins MP

Keighley MP and former soldier Kris Hopkins has spoken of his pride at work being done to ensure servicemen and women and their families have priority access to homes.

He told the Commons the government had published guidance strongly encouraging councils to prioritise armed forces members and their families for social housing.

Mr Hopkins said: “As a former squaddie, I think this government can be very proud of what we have done – whether it is the Help to Buy scheme, the covenant or making sure that members of our armed forces who have been away from home still have a high priority on waiting lists.”

I find it rather disconcerting that Mr. Hopkins has come out with a statement such at this after the way the whole Government has treated our brave servicemen and this late into his term of office.
You would of thought an ex serviceman would of been screaming from the rooftops from day one about the whole treatment they have been getting and he should be fully ashamed that he hasn't been there to defend his brothers in arms.
Ex servicemen deserve a whole lot more than just been placed first on the list a far lot more and he knows it.
