The inspirational achievements of a former South Craven pupil are now available for students to watch online via the school’s new website.

It has been adding information about former students onto its web pages. The latest video, which was due to go live on Tuesday, features Utley resident Ben Wood. In the video, Ben – a South Craven student from 1991 to 1998 – speaks about the support and encouragement he received while at the school.

He is now a world record holder for completing a marathon and cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats last summer.

He and his Ultra Six Challenge Team colleagues finished the 850-mile route in a record time of six days 16 hours and 24 minutes.

A South Craven School spokesman said: “Ben has been a frequent visitor in school, addressing assemblies and acting as a motivational speaker, urging students to get active, stay healthy and live their dream, just as he has.

“As well as the videos on the website, there is also a section for student profiles, which include details on what former students have achieved.

“We invite former students to e-mail us with a short resume of their career to date.”
