People organising events to celebrate the arrival in the district this summer of the Tour de France are being urged to register their plans with Bradford Council.

Groups and businesses across Keighley and the Worth Valley are preparing to mark the July 6 Grand Depart with a range of activities.

The council is collating details of events and offering help and advice.

It has set up a website – bradford.gov.uk/ tourdefrance – with information for anyone considering running temporary campsites or car parks, having mobile or temporary catering facilities or renting out their home as a temporary bed and breakfast.

And an interactive map is being regularly updated with details of events and facilities to help residents and visitors plan their weekend.

Councillor Andrew Thornton, the Council’s executive member for environment and sport, said: “With about five months to go, it is very important those who want to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity get in touch and discuss what they are planning.

“Our officers will be able to offer advice to help them plan and run these events and facilities safely.”
