Keighley MP Kris Hopkins is more used to polling votes than pulling pints.
But he tried his hand behind the bar at the Robin Hood in Silsden when he visited the pub to celebrate its reopening following refurbishment. The Kirkgate hostelry was closed for a month for a major revamp by Punch Taverns and licensees, Darren and Sue Robinson.
“I was very pleased to visit the Robin Hood and see the transformation first-hand,” said Mr Hopkins. “It is good to see the pub has retained its original features and kept the links with the community, where it has a loyal following.”
Mrs Robinson said: “It’s great to have a local MP supporting the pub industry, especially as there has been such pressure on the sector in recent years.
“The launch was really busy, and the new look has been well received.”
Ian Lester, for Punch Taverns, said: “The Robin Hood is a great example of a pub at the heart of the community.
“Following the successful launch, the pub is performing well.”
