Keighley schoolchildren had a flipping good time on Shrove Tuesday.

Pupils at Merlin Top Primary School learned all about pancakes on the special occasion.

Older children at the Braith-waite school were able to measure ingredients before tossing the pancakes. Younger children in the reception class were able to learn about the various ingredients and mix them.

Teacher, Louisa Hinitt, said the year five class explored the traditional celebration.

She said: “We were talking about its links to Christianity, about Lent and how Pancake Day originated.”
