Patients at Airedale Hospital’s A&E department heard a 25-year-old threaten his pregnant girlfriend.

Aaron Moran, from Bradley, who was suffering from the after-effects of wisdom teeth surgery, was also verbally abusive to police officers, Skipton magistrates heard on Friday.

Moran had been arrested by police on February 8 following an incident with his girlfriend, Lauren Jenkins, and had been taken to the hospital by officers who had been concerned about the after-effects of the strong painkillers.

But while in the A&E department, he had been verbally abusive to other people and to staff before saying he would kick his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach.

Moran, who admitted threatening behaviour, had been in a relationship with Miss Jenkins for only a short time, and it was now very much at an end, the court was told.

In mitigation, Glen Maude said Moran had been drinking following wisdom teeth surgery the day before, which had included an anaesthetic and strong painkillers.

She said he could remember little of what had happened, but accepted the police officers’ version of events. He said he deeply regretted his actions.

Magistrates fined Moran, of Heath Drive, £110 and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.
