Labour has unveiled its Keighley district line-up to contest this year’s council elections.
The six who will do battle at the May 22 poll were joined at a campaign launch by John Grogan, the party’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Keighley.
He said: “Labour is defending three Bradford Council seats in Keighley town – with experienced councillors seeking re-election – as well as looking for gains elsewhere.
“I am hoping the fact the European elections are on the same day as the local elections will mean turnout will be a little higher than usual.”
Mr Grogan added: “The Labour group is striving to make gains across the district to get a majority on the council and be in a stronger position to defend council services.
“This will also be the last big electoral test before the general election due in May 2015.”
Candidates are Coun Abid Hussain (Keighley Central), Coun Keith Dre-dge (Keighley West), Coun Steve Pullen (Keighley East), Val Carroll (Craven), Mark Curtis (Worth Valley) and Sandy MacPherson (Ilkley).
