Trips to Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium and a day out in Blackpool have been among the incentives offered to pupils at Parkside School.

The activities have formed part of the school’s new reward scheme, which was introduced last September.

This motivational initiative has been dubbed The Rewardzone and was officially launched by a band called Only The Young, who came into school to perform for Year eight and Years nine pupils.

A Parkside spokesman said: “Our students used to collect stamps and receive gold, silver and bronze certificates at the end of each term reflecting the number of stamps they have collected.

“However, we learned that this was not particularly motivating them to collect stamps on a regular basis, so we came up with a new scheme which has something in it for everyone.

“Since September our students have benefited from an array of activities including a day out in Blackpool and trips to Old Trafford, Valley Parade and Elland Road.

“Also coming up this term are a visit to the Imax centre, ten-pin bowling and go karting.”
