Fundraising is blooming for Manorlands.

Silsden woman Angela Malcolm is staging a daffodil party in support of the Sue Ryder hospice.

The 54-year-old is organising the event as a thankyou to the Oxenhope centre for the care it provided to her late mum.

And Mrs Malcolm wants to raise awareness of the fact the hospice does not just provide care for cancer sufferers.

“A lot of people associate Manorlands only with cancer patients but my mum had an autoimmune condition,” she said.

“She went to the day unit every week and loved it. She met people, did craft activities, had her nails done, and someone took her and brought her home. It was fantastic. She also spent ten weeks as a patient in Manorlands.”

Mrs Malcolm, a respite foster carer for children with additional needs, said the daffodil party would have extra poignancy.

It is being held on the third anniversary of her mother Phyllis Creighton’s death.

“I’m calling it a daffodil party because of the time of year,” said Mrs Malcolm. “It promises to be a great evening.”

The April 12 event – at Silsden’s sports club in Keighley Road – will feature Buck’s Fizz on arrival, a hot and cold buffet provided by Luc Daguzan of Le Bistro des Amis in Skipton, local group Undercover, a raffle and auction.

Also, a Manorlands representative will talk about the work of the hospice.

Tickets for the 7.30pm to midnight party are available – priced £20, including food – from Wilman & Lodge estate agents in Silsden and Cross Hills, by contacting Mrs Malcolm on (01535) 654211 or 07919 383704, or by e-mailing jambosmum@hotmail.com.
