Bright new signs installed in a school playground will help ensure pupils know how to make the most of their playtime.

The signs at Hothfield Junior School set out some of the simple “golden rules” for guaranteeing happiness and safety during break times.

They encourage the children to be kind and helpful, speak respectfully to each other and to take good care of their playground and play equipment.

Head teacher James Procter said: “We have very happy playtimes at Hothfield, and that’s because of our clear rules.

“Our school council chose the signs because they wanted to make these rules more visible. The signs were put in place a few weeks ago, and I think they look lovely.”

He added that the signs were paid for through fundraising carried out by Hothfield’s parents’ group.
