The Keighley News has been shortlisted for a coveted award.

It is a finalist in the Society of Editors Regional Press Awards for 2013.

We are among just six titles from across Britain to be selected in the Weekly Newspaper of the Year category, for those with circulations below 20,000.

Awards will be presented in a ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel on May 16 hosted by broadcaster Nick Ferrari.

Keighley News editor Richard Parker said: “It is a great honour to be shortlisted and we are extremely pleased and proud.

“This is testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team, including our many valued contributors.”

Chairman of the judges Paul Horrocks paid tribute to the standards of all the entries, saying: “Once again we have been astounded by the scale and quality of the entries that come out of the regional and local press.

“We look forward to welcoming the shortlisted candidates on May 16 to further celebrate their work.”

The awards are organised by the Society of Editors, in conjunction with the Newspaper Society, HoldtheFrontPage and Press Association.
