Confusion about proposed rearrangement of treatment for people suffering mental health problems has been clarified by Bradford District Care Trust (BDCT).

The work to complete the purpose-built facility at Lynfield Mount Hospital in Bradford, which will replace Ward 24 at Airedale Hospital, is due to be completed by May next year.

A BDCT spokesman said: “The ward for people with a ‘functional’ illness – i.e. depression and anxiety-type illnesses – will transfer its care from Lynfield Mount Hospital to our Airedale Centre for Mental Health by the end of this month, as per the advice of experts in the field.”

Details of the proposed changes were debated at a meeting of North Yorkshire County Council scrutiny of health committee in Skipton, which was attended by Allison Bingham, BDCT’s deputy director of adult services.
