Many older people in Haworth and Oxen-hope feel lonely, according to new research.
The Welcome Project, which provides social activities across Keighley, carried out the survey among over-50s.
Welcome Project spokesman, Shona Grange, said most people who took part said they felt lonely sometimes or often.
She said: “Many people didn’t like to admit they felt lonely, and felt they should put a brave face on.”
She added: “It’s not so simple if you’ve no transport, feel anxious about meeting new people, have a disability or no money or really don’t like groups. We can help people get round these difficulties.”
