A colourful display to inform shoppers about the Tour de France is in place in Keighley’s Airedale Shopping Centre.
The display was installed in a window near Boots by cycling enthusiast Frank O’Dwyer. It contains details of the Spartacus Project, which will see giant cut-outs of Tour cyclists located around Keighley in time for when the race passes through the town on July 6.
There is also information on the route itself, the planned gala performance night at Victoria Hall in July to celebrate the Grand Depart, a scaled-down Spartacus Project bike figure and a pair of banners.
Mr O’Dwyer said the bike cut-out was painted by St Andrew’s Primary School pupils, while the banners were prepared by University Academy Keighley youngsters.
Praising the pupils’ efforts, he said: “The bike and the banners look fantastic – I’ve already seen people walking past who’ve been stopping to look at the display.
“When it comes down on Sunday we’ll shift the information about the gala performance to Keighley Library.”
