A Harden pub is undergoing a £375,000 refurbishment.
A larger bar and an orangery will be among the new features at The Malt Shovel.
Extra seating is also being installed, with open fires, stone flags and wooden floors reinstated.
Five new jobs are being created.
And when the pub reopens on June 26, it will have a new name – The Malt.
The investment is being made jointly by Star Pubs & Bars and Neil Pickles, of Pickles Pubs.
“I know the area well and recognised the potential of The Malt – it is a great pub,” said Mr Pickles.
“We are restoring the pub to its former glory and will cater for everyone’s needs – families, cyclists, walkers, riders, you name it.”
Chris Jowsey, of Star Pubs & Bars, said: “It’s tough running a pub with increasing competition for consumers’ disposable income.
“To be successful in today’s market, pubs must improve their offering to customers, and this means investing in places like The Malt to create a welcoming and relevant environment.”
