Charity skateboarders have so far raised at least £250 to help children with congenital heart disease.
Johnny Phillips, 31, from Steeton, and 21-year-old Michael Laidler, from Laycock, organised the Need for Tweed 46-mile skateboard ride from Leeds to Keighley and back to collect cash for the Children’s Heart Federation.
The pair dressed in flat caps and Yorkshire tweed for the event on Saturday, and even carried an inflatable sheep! They picked up two more participants when they reached Keighley, who joined them for the return leg of the challenge.
Johnny said: “Apart from when we got to Bradford and the heavens opened, it went fine – it was a great success.
“A nice lady walking her dog in Victoria Park, whom we happened to meet, gave us a cheque for every mile we completed – so that was a cheque for £46 right there.
“When skating on roads you do have to think of health and safety, of course, but we stuck to the rules and didn’t have any problems with cars. From start to finish took about eight hours, so we did it in a really good time.”
