Keighley girl Summer Farrar will be on the cover of the newest novel from leading children’s author Michael Morpurgo.
The young model, right, was chosen to publicise Listen To The Moon, from the writer of worldwide bestsellers War Horse and Kensuke’s Kingdom.
Summer, 11, from Bracken Bank, was photographed at York earlier this month in readiness for the book’s autumn release.
The Oakbank School student is a keen dancer, who trains at Keighley’s Hi Energy Dance Academy and regularly competes in freestyle contests.
She won a model search competition two years ago, and was taken on by Sheffield agency DK Models.
The Michael Morpurgo cover is her second major assignment, after appearing in a music video for Pink Floyd.
Summer’s mother, Nicola, said: “She was thrilled.
“She was really pleased because she does like what Michael Morpurgo writes. In the picture, Summer is sitting on a horse with a boy.”
Listen To The Moon is based on the true story of a German prisoner of war, who carved a wooden dachshund for a British family he was living with.
