SUPERMARKET giant Sainsbury's is planning a major refurbishment of its Keighley store.
The sales area of the Cavendish Street premises will be expanded, with larger Tu clothing and homeware sections and new fresh-food counters.
Also, low-energy refrigeration and heating systems will be installed, making the store more environmentally friendly.
And there will be a new car park layout.
Sainsbury's declined to comment on the cost of the work, which is due to start in August – subject to planning permission from Bradford Council – and will take about three months to complete.
The store will remain open throughout, with the possible exception of a few days immediately before the relaunch in November.
Project manager, Richard Wood, said: “Sainsbury’s serves thousands of people in the Keighley district, and we’re delighted to be able to make some great improvements for our customers as part of our long-term commitment to the area.”
The company said no extra jobs would be created, but that the investment would secure employment for the future.
