Temporary fire crews attend Keighley blaze during latest strike
TEMPORARY crews were called out to deal with a grass blaze in Keighley during the latest firefighters strike.
The alarm was raised shortly after 4pm yesterday when the fire broke out on an embankment in Parkwood Street, close to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews attended 27 incidents across the county during the latest industrial action, between 10am and 5pm yesterday, but none were serious.
The walkout was the 14th in a series staged by the Fire Brigades Union in a dispute over pensions.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer Dave Walton said: "Whilst no further strike dates have currently been announced, we continue to implore both the government minister and the union to find a resolution to this long standing dispute."
