A CAKE design shop has won a competition to create the best window display in Keighley town centre.
Personal Ice in North Street gained the prize in the Bonjour Keighley contest run by Keighley Town Centre Association.
Judges, who toured the town centre, to see the traders’ windows, praised the display’s style and imagination.
They liked the display which reflected the Gallic way of life with a French flag, witty message in French, and macaroons to shape the wheels of a bike.
Personal Ice boss Joanne Smith-Travers said: “It’s such an honour to win this competition.”
The Town Centre Association had challenged shops to create an original and eye-catching display that would reflect Le Tour.
The judges, Keighley town mayor’s Graham Mitchell, deputy mayor Javaid Akhtar and SportKeighley representative John Dennis, praised all entrants for their efforts.
Steve Seymour chairman of the Town Centre Association said the window displays promoted Keighley while encouraging more people to visit small independent retailers.
He said: “We were keen that shops in Keighley embraced the visit of the Tour de France and helped welcome the many visitors expected.”
Highly Commended certificates were given to Sewing Machines and Crafts, the Flower Shop and Lavender Fields Emporium.
