LUCY Zirins makes a third trip to the Keighley area this summer when she plays a new festival.
This time the Burnley singer-songwriter doesn’t have as far to come: the venue is only just on our side of the border with Lancashire.
Lucy is one of the headliners at a one-day blues festival at Moorlodge Country Retreat at Scartop near Stanbury.
The organiser is Ben Blue Waters, who has run monthly blues and roots nights first at the Great Northern in Ingrow, then more recently at the Old Sun in Haworth.
The Scartop event came about after Ben discovered that a scheduled blues festival in Filey had to be cancelled.
He said: “I approached the people at Moorlodge and they immediately agreed to hold the festival there.
“The majority of the acts due to play at Filey are coming to play, along with several other acts.
“The day will feature performances from 11 top acoustic blues acts, several with an international following.”
The free-entry festival will begin at noon with each lasting about an hour.
Ben will open with foot-stomping slide guitar blues, followed by funky fingerpicker Diamond Dac and Heckmondwike wizard Julian Socha.
Then it’s four-piece acoustic band Kingsdown Blues playing raw rootsy Delta and Chicago blues, followed by Lucy, then highly respected blues and ragtime masters Gerry Cooper and Phil Snell.
Completing the bill are upbeat blues man Ged Wilson, Alfie Steeleye Stockman, fingerpicking wizard Li’l Ian Goodsman, and Scottish bluesy troubadour Martin Plock.
