YOUNGSTERS and parents from a Silsden school have successfully climbed Yorkshire's three highest mountains.
A party of 24 children and parents took part in this year's Hothfield Junior School Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks challenge.
They set off from Horton in Ribblesdale before 7am, and had to endure nothing worse than light drizzle on the 26-mile route.
Every member of the group successfully climbed Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough within 11 hours.
This was the ninth year that the school has organised the challenge. It usually involves large parties of pupils and adults climbing the individual peaks in March, April and May, before attempting the full challenge in June.
Five of the children completing the three-peaks trek were from Hothfield's year six.
Mike Carey, the organiser of the walks, said: "To complete the challenge at all is an achievement, but to do it at the age of 11 shows enormous strength and determination. Hothfield has every reason to be proud of its pupils."
